Centrifuge Solutions for Aerosol Issues

2025-07-19 4

When a centrifuge separates samples, automatic decapping may produce aerosols. So, what exactly are aerosols?

Aerosols are suspensions of tiny liquid or solid particles in the air. They can act as nuclei for water droplets and ice crystals (see atmospheric condensation nuclei, atmospheric ice nuclei), absorb and scatter solar radiation, and participate in various chemical cycles. They are an important component of the atmosphere. Fog, smoke, haze, mist, dust, and smog are all natural or human-made atmospheric aerosols.

To address aerosol issues caused by centrifuges, the following measures should be taken.

1.The centrifuge is equipped with an anti-aerosol device during automatic decapping to prevent aerosol dispersion.

2.The automatic decapping double-layer adapter has excellent sealing, effectively preventing aerosol diffusion and volatilization.

Aerosols are sometimes unavoidable—any liquid sample may produce them. Therefore, effectively blocking aerosol dispersion and volatilization is a must for centrifuge manufacturers. Otherwise, cross-contamination of samples may occur, leading to increased risks.

Hunan Anjunyan Centrifuge effectively prevents aerosol hazards to samples, improving the safety of centrifugation work.
